The programme has been granted scholarships from the European Union Erasmus Mundus Programme for 2010-2012
The course has in place a comprehensive student insurance programme which provides an extensive worldwide insurance cover for incoming and outgoing students. The policy has been procured from ACE European Group who provides insurance for a large number of international Universities currently taking part in Erasmus Mundus programmes. This is a comprehensive policy that complies with the minimum requirements as set down by the EACEA. This policy is available to students at the ACE premium of €480. For Erasmus Mundus scholarship students, the premium is included within the scholarship.
Students are not required to pay any excess costs and the administration of the policy, claims management and policy instructions will be managed by Heriot-Watt University Group Risk Office
There are no medical questionnaires or medical examinations necessary for cover to apply.
Cover is provided to students during holiday periods and whilst in their home country for a period of 4 consecutive weeks.
The Group Risk Office will provide all students with claims advice, claims management and general advice and assistance relating to cover and claims. The Group Risk Office will also offer students mediation in the event of claims disputes.
All students taking part in the insurance programme will be provided with comprehensive policy information and terms and conditions which provide details of the insurance cover provided. The insurance programme provides each student with a 24 hour emergency contact facility for the international medical provision. In addition to this service each student will also receive a University emergency card which will provide each student with 24 hour assistance as and when necessary.
All MSPME students will benefit from a comprehensive travel insurance policy for the duration of their studies worldwide at no extra cost. The policy has been procured from Zurich Municipal and meets a significant number of the minimum requirements as set down by the EACEA.
